Hey, I am still getting my website done which will be out hopefully in a soon.
I was delighted to find some people are following my blog.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am being a bit coy at the moment, wait until I really get going!!!!!
One HUGE school I went to – from Day Care to Kindy, Pre-School, Primary, Secondary – HUGE …
Locks on ALL the doors, esp. toilets and staff room. Tricky to get around, as WE don’t get keys (especially when you want to go to the toilet!!!). Who gets time to go to the toilet???? Not like yet another school where the car park was locked, AND when and IF you got into the car park, THEN YOU COULD NOT GET INTO THE SCHOOL!!!! And wait for it – AND YOU COULDN’T GET OUT of the car park either!!!
At this school, they NEVER had any work set for the reliever – and resources were non-existent 'cause you did not have a key??? I even had to take woodwork, more than once! Beat that!
Were the kids compliant? Nah! It was a bit of a lose/lose situation. However, it had me be the BEST I could be. It thickened my hide.
I got out my ‘virtue’ cards and let them do their magic. And, they did.
So one day when I returned to this school, I was rushing to class when this young guy was running by and said:
“Hey, Miss, I’ve got one of your virtue cards”
“Really, which one?”
He said: “Respect”
“You keep that card, and every day before you come to school, read it!”
Our teaching days are memorable, if not for ourselves, for the children. Let's grab those memorable moments and give them momentum. Even the negative are learning tools, and hence useful for us. I am so grateful I have noted these moments, and trust you feel the same. Please send me any moments of yours you would like to share. Happy reading!
