How many of us have looked back at our childhood and teens
and thought ‘if only I’d known then what I know now?’
The Virtues
A child is a spiritual being brought into the world to grow in body, mind and spirit.
It is believed children are born in potential: yet, their natural qualities can develop into positive or negative!
The child’s character develops as they learn to make responsible, moral choices. The language of the 52 virtues does just that. If the parents are not fulfilling the spiritual mentor role for their children, either because they do not know, or do not choose to, if it is to be, it is then left up to us teachers, to do this, - with self esteem being the bi-product.
The virtues language can, when used effectively, also heal the hurts of one’s upbringing.
The virtues can be used to develop the spiritual and moral development of a child and thus bringing out the best in every child.
I use the virtues, in the form of virtue cards, in the classroom as a reliever.
I never cease to be amazed at how powerful and valued they are by the pupils.
I use the cards (each one goes deeply into each virtue) from five year olds to adults! Just as children’s bodies’ need food, air, light, and warmth, their spirits need challenge, direction, and encouragement. Using the virtues does all of this.
Use them, and find out for yourself!
